Freedom Group, Inc. is a privately-held firearms, ammunition and related accessories manufacturing company. With over $900 million in revenue in 2012, Freedom Group designs, manufactures and markets products for a diverse group of end users including sportsmen, hunters, target shooters, gun collectors, and members of the military, law enforcement and other government organizations. Founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington and headquartered in Madison, North Carolina, the Freedom Group operates principally through two subsidiaries, Remington Arms Company, Inc. and Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC. The Freedom Group was formed when Remington Arms Company announced that it had agreed to be acquired via leveraged buyout by private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management, taking the company private in April 2007 (please see PrivCo's M&A table for complete details on this transaction).
